We have written a lot about how you can use everyday toys in speech therapy. You don’t need special resources to work on language and communication – with a bit of thought and planning, you can use the toys you have around the house or around your school or nursery. Today I’m going to talk about Play Doh. So many children enjoy play doh and it’s a very flexible toy that can be used in so many ways. That makes it great for targeting language skills!
A little while ago I worked with a child who had a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Often I use a lot of very visual toys with these children to work on attention and listening skills, as they often find these motivating. However, this particular child was as unmotivated by visual stimuli as he was by auditory stimuli (spoken words, sounds etc). He was a puzzle to me for a little while. After consulting with his OT however, I discovered that he loved any activity where he could touch and feel things, especially squeezing and pushing things. Thus a whole new speech therapy plan was born, and it involved a lot of play doh! Here are some of the ideas that I have used with that child and with others over the years.
Even older children love play doh if they let themselves! Here are some ideas for working on language skills with slightly older or more verbal children.

Si bien existen otros exámenes oficiales y reconocidos a nivel nacional (Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas) e internacional (Oxford Test of English), Cambridge se ha eregido como líder en este sector debido a su rigurosidad, fiabilidad y estrategia de marketing. Sin embargo, quizás no sepas cómo matricularte para un examen de Cambridge English. Por ello, en este post te explico detalladamente qué tienes que hacer para realizar tu matrícula para un examen de Cambridge.

Si quieres hacer un examen de Cambridge English, como el Preliminary (PET), First (FCE) o Advanced (CAE), debes acudir a un centro examinador oficial. El centro examinador es normalmente una academia de inglés autorizada por Cambridge English Language Assessment para registrar candidatos para hacer algunos de los exámenes. Tal y como especifica Cambridge English en su web, se encargan de todas o algunas de estas cosas:
↪ administrar exámenes siguiendo los estándares de calidad de Cambridge English
↪ organizar y contratar a examinadores orales
↪ promocionar los exámenes de Cambridge English activamente
↪ asegurar la confidencialidad de los materiales
↪ cumplir las normas de uso de la marca Cambridge English
↪ cumplir los acuerdos financieros según el Reglamento del Centro
↪ invertir recursos financieros en la administración del centro
Aunque hay otros tipos de centros con un estatus más alto, como los Platinum centres, los centros examinadores son suficiente para informarnos sobre fechas, tasas, requisitos de registro, etc. Algunos de ellos incluso ofrecen un formulario para registrarte en el examen de Cambridge que deseas hacer.

Sin importar el examen que quieras hacer, para encontrar el centro examinador más cercano, debes visitar la web de arriba donde verás algo como esto:
Simplemente elige tu país en “location” y el examen que quieras hacer. Digamos, por ejemplo, que quieres hacer el Cambridge English: First (FCE) en Granada (España). En “location”, elige “Spain” y luego “Cambridge English: First (FCE)”. Te aparece lo siguiente:

Aparte de la lista en la imagen, hay muchos más centros autorizados donde puedes realizar el examen, pero suelen ser academias de inglés que registran a sus propios alumnos a través de los centros examinadores. Por otro lado, puede que alguna de esas academias sea el centro donde realices el examen una vez hayas pagado las tasas y te hayas registrado.
Ahí puedes elegir cualquier opción y te dará toda la información del centro: dirección, email, teléfono, página web, etc. Además, te dirá qué exámenes organiza dicho centro. Pero eso es otra historia.
Matricularte en un examen de Cambridge en Granada es bastante sencillo. Hasta hoy, Cambridge English ha nombrado 2 centros examinadores oficiales en Granada:
Exams ananada es la filial de el famoso Centro de Lenguas y Estudios, más conocido en Granada como Academia CL. Este centro de idiomas y otras actividades lleva en funcionamiento más de 25 años, pero fue apenas un año cuando fue nombrado Centro Examinador Oficial de Cambridge English. Hasta ahora, es centro examinador a nivel interno, es decir, solo matriculan alumnos de su propio centro. Pero pronto empezarán a matricular a alumnos externos y de otras academias. Si quieres ver sus plazos de matriculación y precios, visita la página web de Exams Granada (web actualmente en construcción).
Por otro lado, tenemos la filial Exams Andalucía, que es la sección de la academia IML Granada que se encarga de los exámenes de Cambridge English. En este caso, este centro tiene una amplia experiencia organizando y llevando a cabo exámenes a nivel autonómico. Probablemente ello se deba a que IML Granada lleva en activo desde 1954, cuando la madre del actual director abrió una de las primeras academias de inglés en la zona de Granada.
